Happify Health partners with Anthem to support Maternal Health

Love this news coming out of Happify Health. Happify announced this week that they are partnering with Anthem to bring digital health support to various areas of women’s health including pregnancy and menopause.

I am excited to see this announcement because in my time at Happify we often talked about the tremendous need for mental health support for women at various points in their lives. I spent a lot of time exploring perinatal mood disorders and the need for more tools and resources is clear.

Not only are there many factors that can increase risk for mood disorders at this time (hormonal changes, shifts in sense of self, shift in family roles, career challenges, to name a few), but there are also additional barriers to seeking care at this sensitive time. For instance, there may be a reluctance to take medication while pregnant or nursing, and it may be difficult to physically get to an appointment with a newborn. Many women still fear facing stigma for experiencing a struggle during what they believe should be a happy time. Digital programs are well suited to help in these circumstances.
